Breast Lift: Restore Youthful Perkiness to Your Breasts

Unlike the breast augmentation procedure which increases the overall size of breasts, the breast lift is performed to restore a youthful look to breasts that have begun to droop or sag. Dr. David Allison has performed hundreds of breast lift procedures over the years, helping women feel more confident and sexy in – and out of – their clothing.

What a Breast Lift Can Correct

Droopy or sagging breasts can be the result of:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Excessive weight loss
  • Aging
  • Gravity
  • Large breasts

Breast Lift Procedure

The breast lift procedure involves reshaping of breast tissue and the removal of excess skin in the breast area to return the breasts to a more youthful position on the chest. The nipple may need to be repositioned to create a natural appearance. While the breasts will appear firmer, they will not increase in size.

In order to make the adjustments, Dr. Allison will make an incision on the breasts using one of several methods depending on the amount of breast tissue to be removed:

  • Donut incision around the areola
  • Vertical incision that circles the areola and extends vertically to the fold of the breast
  • Anchor incision that incorporates the vertical incision with an additional crescent-shaped incision for larger breasts

General anesthesia or intravenous sedation is administered prior to breast lift surgery.

Once the surgery is complete, Dr. Allison will close the incision with sutures and he may temporarily insert a tube to facilitate the drainage of any excess fluid or blood.

Breast Lift Recovery

Breast lift surgery recovery may take 1-2 weeks. Expect temporary swelling and bruising after surgery. By following Dr. Allison’s post-op instructions, you will have a better chance at a quick recovery. Be sure to attend all of your scheduled post-op appointments.

  • Avoid lifting heavy objects for several weeks
  • Avoid strenuous activity for several weeks
  • Wear the support garment recommended by your doctor
  • Clean your incision sites
  • Apply ointment as needed
  • Take prescribed medication, if needed
  • Stop smoking for at least 2-4 weeks

Risks of Breast Lift

A breast lift is a serious surgery and carries the potential for complications. Make sure you choose an experienced board certified breast surgeon like Dr. Allison when you decide to have this procedure to minimize the risks such as:

  • Infection
  • Breast asymmetry
  • Scarring
  • Bleeding
  • Sensation loss
  • Pain
  • Anesthesia complications

Breast lift surgery is often combined with the breast augmentation procedure for patients who also want increased size. Multiple procedure discounts are offered by Dr. Allison to make these procedures affordable.
