Improve Your Skin Texture & Appearance with Dermabrasion
If your skin has become dull, uneven or wrinkled, a process called dermabrasion can help to restore a new glow and vitality to your face.
What Dermabrasion Can Correct
- Scars from surgery, trauma or acne
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Remove pre-cancerous growths
Dermabrasion Procedure
Dr. David Allison performs dermabrasion in the office or in the operating room. First, he numbs the areas to be treated with a local anesthetic so you will remain comfortable during the procedure. Dermabrasion involves the gentle scraping away of the outer layer of skin using a motorized tool. Dr. Allison will determine how deep down into the tissue to treat to produce the best results. After the procedure is complete, he will apply a soothing ointment and dressing to keep the area clean as it heals from tissue removal.
Dermabrasion Recovery & Results
You should expect to return home after the procedure to rest. Your skin will appear swollen and red and you may experience some discomfort such as pain, burning or tingling. Recovery may take 2 weeks as your skin heals (with or without scabbing). Smoother (but still pinkish) skin should become visible within several weeks.
It is important to avoid swimming, direct sunlight and alcohol for at least 3-4 weeks. Final results may take several months to achieve, but most patients say the end result is worth the wait.
