Brow Lifts: Let Your True Emotions Shine Through

Sometimes aging, genetics and environmental factors can leave their marks on your upper face. When the forehead, brows and upper eyelid skin become etched with lines and begin to lose elasticity, your entire expression can take on an angry, sad and older-looking appearance – even when you are happy. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Allison performs brow lift surgery to correct these signs of aging so your face can express your true emotions.

What a Brow Lift Can Correct

A brow lift or forehead lift is performed to:

  • Minimize horizontal and vertical forehead and frown lines/creases
  • Elevate heavy or drooping brows
  • Correct uneven eyebrows
  • Create a more approachable, youthful appearance

Brow Lift Procedure

Prior to brow lift surgery, you will receive general anesthesia or intravenous sedation administered by one of Dr. Allison’s trusted board certified anesthesiologists. There are different methods of brow lift surgery; the right method for you will depend on your overall aesthetic goals.

Traditional Brow Lift

An incision is made along your hairline, from temple to temple. The skin is gently detached from the underlying tissues so extra forehead skin can be removed, leaving a smoother forehead appearance. Dr. Allison is extremely precise when tightening the forehead skin so a natural appearance is achieved. The incision is closed with sutures and a temporary tube may be inserted for drainage of excess fluid or blood.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

Several shorter incisions are made along the hairline. This is a less invasive procedure in which Dr. Allison uses an endoscope tube to adjust the tissue and tighten the muscles beneath the skin so facial lines are minimized. Again, excess skin is removed and the incisions closed with sutures and a temporary tube may be inserted for drainage of excess fluid or blood.

Brow Lift Recovery

Full recovery from brow lift surgery may take 2-3 weeks. Expect your eyes, cheeks and forehead to have some temporary swelling and bruising after surgery. Your recovery will go more smoothly if you follow Dr. Allison’s post-op instructions and attend all of your scheduled post-op appointments.

  • Apply cold compresses
  • Take prescribed pain or antibiotic medication if needed
  • Keep your head elevated
  • Avoid sports and strenuous activities for 3 weeks
  • Avoid any type of excessive force on your incisions
  • Stop smoking for at least 2-4 weeks

Risks of Brow Lifts

You can reduce your risks of complications as a result of brow lift surgery by choosing an experienced board certified brow lift surgeon like Dr. Allison. Brow lift surgery risks may include:

  • Elevated hairline or loss of hair in the incision area
  • Infection
  • Scarring
  • Bleeding
  • Numbness
  • Tingling
  • Facial asymmetry
  • Nerve injury affecting facial muscles

Dr. Allison will customize your brow lift to complement your unique anatomy, taking into account any previous surgeries you may have undergone. He may also recommend that brow lift surgery be combined with other facial rejuvenation surgeries for maximum results. Multiple procedure discounts help make his combination techniques even more affordable.
