Laser Liposuction

Liposuction is a common and popular cosmetic procedure. It is used to remove and shape localized deposits of excess fat, improving body contour. This method of fat removal is performed through small punctures in the skin. A narrow cannula tube is then inserted into the incisions to suction away the fat, allowing precise contouring of desired areas. There are several different types of liposuction procedures and they vary depending on: the location of fat to be removed, the type of fat, the goals of the patient and their cosmetic surgeon’s recommendation.

Laser liposuction is a minimally invasive liposuction technique to get rid of unsightly fat. The laser liposuction method uses lasers to break up fat before its removal from the body, reducing the need for harsh suction. It can be used on various areas of the body including:

  • Under chin, jowls
  • Back of neck
  • Upper arms
  • Upper back
  • Upper & lower abdomen
  • Love handles and flanks
  • Hips and waist
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Buttocks
  • Inside of knees
  • Male chest (enlarged breasts)

The ideal candidate for laser liposuction is in good health and typically no more than 25 pounds over their ideal body weight. As with everything, there are always exceptions. This procedure was really designed for those hard to lose areas that you just can’t seem to get rid of with diet and exercise.

Laser Liposuction versus Traditional Liposuction

The most significant difference between traditional liposuction and laser liposuction is how much the skin tightens after the procedure. Heat produced by the laser during laser liposuction tightens skin and rebuilds collagen. Traditional liposuction does not offer this.

Some bruising and swelling can be expected following laser liposuction. Patients can expect to see results approximately 3 weeks after the procedure, after swelling subsides. To learn more about laser liposuction in Location or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Allison, contact David W.
